Blender height with the jar on, against your cabinets

Measure from your counter to the bottom of the upper cabinet before you buy. Many kitchens have about 18 inches there, but yours may differ, so use your own number. Then compare it with the height on the listing with the jar on. A blender that does not fit gets stored in a cupboard, and a stored blender gets used less.

- Vitamix 5200: 20.5 inches on the listing, and Vitamix's own page gives the same 20.5 inches. That is 2.5 inches over an 18 inch gap. You can store the jar next to the base, but you cannot blend under the cabinet.
- Vitamix Propel 750: 18 inches on the listing and on Vitamix's page. Vitamix says its low-profile 64 oz container, which is 10.1 inches high, fits easily under most kitchen cabinets. At exactly 18 inches it has no spare room under an 18 inch gap, and under cabinet lights or trim can steal half an inch.
- Blendtec Total Blender Classic: the listing's size line reads 9.2 inches high, which looks like the base alone. We could not confirm the height with the jar, so measure against the maker's figure before you count on it.
- KitchenAid K400 (KSB4027): the shortest here at 15.8 inches.
Leave room to work
- You need space above the lid to pull it off, and more to use a tamper. Plan to slide the blender forward to load it.
- Steam from hot soup should not vent straight into the underside of a cabinet. Pull it forward for hot blends.
